Brothers Helping Brothers
There are many things that a fraternity can be for any individual member that is a part of one. For some, a fraternity is a resource that helped them achieve their higher academic and professional goals, a resource that turned into something much more over time. For others, a fraternity might be something that made them a better man; it was an experience that introduced them to what it means to be a gentleman, a brother, and a man who lives by his values. For some it is friendship that they will share with other brothers for a lifetime, friendship with memories that will never fade. No matter what a fraternity is to any one man, the basic common principle stands that fraternity is brotherhood, and brotherhood is support for each and every member.
When Freeman and Chase founded Theta Chi in 1856 they very clearly spelled out the purpose of the Fraternity in the original Constitution. Article I stated that the objects of Theta Chi were to “bind by closer bonds the members to each other and the mutual assistance of each of its members;” “the advancement and carrying out of any measures at the institution in which it shall be established which shall be of importance to its members,” and “the mutual benefit and improvement of all its members.” It is with these original intentions in mind that Theta Chi has continued to emphasize the motto of “an assisting hand”. For all men of Theta Chi, a strong sense of helping those in need resonates with the purpose of our fraternity. This network of brothers spans across the world, and there is no man who is a Theta Chi that would deny a brother a helping hand.
All these beliefs and values come full circle in the efforts and contributions of all of the members of Theta Chi Fraternity in their intent to fulfill the ideals of the creed. Our brotherhood is dependent upon the mutual support of all of its members. The sign outside of our chapter house expounds the fact that it is indeed “The House That Brotherhood Built”. The great luxuries such as a chapter house and a full service kitchen all come as the fruits of the labor that all brothers pool into this great fraternity. As such, we want to thank and recognize them for their contributions realizing that nothing would be possible without them.
This page is an opportunity for you as an alumnus member, an active member, or a visiting guest who believes in the values and purpose of Theta Chi Fraternity to be one of those contributors. It takes a lot to operate and sustain a non-profit organization such as a fraternity, and sometimes we need the assistance of others to pursue the objectives and goals of our chapter and Theta Chi as a whole. In the beginning, this brotherhood was but a dream that two men shared, but with the help and contributions of many men and women over 150 years of rich history Theta Chi has grown into what it is today. Please feel free to learn more about the options below. Know that any contribution you make will help other students in the future enjoy what has already changed the lives of over 170,000 men.
